Who This Is For

Businesses across South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, Goshen, Plymouth and Northern Indiana whose cyber-insurance renewal arrived with a longer questionnaire and a list of required controls; businesses that were declined or quoted a premium that made no sense; businesses whose customers or lenders now require proof of coverage; and anyone who signed an application last year without being entirely sure the answers were true.

The Problem: The Application Became a Security Standard

Carriers paid out enormously on ransomware and responded the only way they could: by demanding the controls that would have prevented the losses. The result is that a cyber-insurance application is now one of the most consequential security documents a small business signs. Answer accurately and you may not qualify. Answer optimistically and the policy may not respond when you need it — carriers have rescinded coverage over MFA and backup answers that turned out to be untrue at the time of the loss. Most owners sign it the way they sign any renewal, in ten minutes, with the best guess.

What Carriers Ask For

The questions vary by carrier, but the required controls have converged. Here is the list we check, with the detail the questions actually probe:

  • Multi-factor authentication — on email, on all remote access (VPN, remote desktop, remote-support tools), and on administrative accounts; enforced for every user, not merely available
  • Endpoint detection and response (EDR) — on every workstation and server, monitored, not just traditional antivirus
  • Backups — encrypted, offline or immutable, separated from the production network, covering all critical systems, and tested with the date of the last test
  • Email security — advanced filtering, protection against spoofing (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and attachment and link scanning
  • Security-awareness training — for all staff, at least annually, usually with phishing simulation
  • Privileged-access management — administrative accounts separate from daily-use accounts, limited and logged
  • Patching — critical vulnerabilities addressed within a stated window; no unsupported, end-of-life operating systems
  • Incident-response plan — written, with named roles
  • Logging and monitoring — security events retained and reviewed; network segmentation for larger environments

What We Do

Application review

Every question checked against your actual environment before you sign. What's accurate, what isn't, and what it would take to make it true.

Control implementation

MFA enforced everywhere it's asked about, EDR deployed, immutable tested backups, email security and DMARC, admin-account separation, patching — most of it standard in our managed IT agreements.

Training with records

Staff security-awareness training and phishing simulation, with the attendance and results records carriers ask for. See security-awareness training.

Evidence file

Configuration screenshots, backup test logs, training records and the incident-response plan organized so the broker, the carrier or a claims adjuster gets an answer in minutes.

Broker and carrier liaison

We answer the technical follow-ups directly, in their language, so you're not relaying questions you can't evaluate.

Kept current between renewals

Controls that were true at signing stay true at the time of a loss — because they run and are checked as a routine, not as a once-a-year scramble.

How It Works

  1. Send us the application (or last year's) and your current policy.
  2. Gap assessment — each required control verified in your environment, usually within two weeks.
  3. Plan with costs — what's missing, what it takes, what it costs, in the order that matters most to the carrier and to actually preventing a loss.
  4. Implement — most controls within 30–60 days; MFA and backups first.
  5. Sign accurately — with the evidence file behind every answer.
  6. Maintain — the controls run inside managed IT, and the file is current at the next renewal.

Pricing

The application review and gap assessment is a fixed-price engagement. Implementing the required controls is quoted as a fixed-price plan; for businesses on a managed IT agreement, most of the controls are already included and kept running. Hourly consulting follows our published rates.
